My Approach to Therapy

My Therapeutic Approach is a blend of...

EMDR

An eight phase, research backed protocol that uses bilateral movements (of eyes, sounds, and/or tapping) to support the processing of trauma and adverse experiences. EMDR is an excellent tool that can be integrated to support those with chronic health conditions as well.

Internal Family Systems and Ego States

Parts work welcomes the curious exploration of the various inner parts we carry. Through this work, we may tune into our relationship with inner dialogues that we carry. We will explore how we learned to respond to our needs in the best way we could, often from the limitations of a child or young adult’s perspective.

Mindful & Somatic Practices

Mindfulness and somatic practices work hand in hand to bridge the gap between mind and body, helping you pause and create emotional space between what you experience and how you respond. Rather than just talking about a challenge, this integrated approach invites your body to play an active role in your healing. By blending mindful awareness with a gentle attention to physical signals, we explore how stress or grief shows up in your body, using real-time tools in the therapy room to safely move through it.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

Difficult thoughts and feelings can sometimes make us feel stuck. Together, we’ll safely turn toward what is hard, clarify what matters most to you, learn tools to defuse from inner dialogues that hold us back, and take steps towards actions that align with our deepest values.

Motivational Interviewing

Change tends to grow from your own reasons and rarely from someone else’s advice. Together, we’ll explore your mixed feelings without pressure, and reconnect with the deeper values and needs that support the change-making process.

Attachment-Based Approach

Our earliest relationships shape what closeness came to feel like. Together, we’ll understand those patterns with compassion, and build a way of relating that feels safer and more connected.

Cultural & Identity-Affirming Care

Your unique identities and lived experiences shape how you navigate the world, and it is of utmost importance that you feel safe and seen in therapy. I practice culturally sensitive therapy that often explores how larger social systems, power dynamics, and oppression may impact your wellbeing. By attuning to clients’ lived experiences as BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent, and/or disabled, my approach integrates your background and personal history into your healing journey.
